Hatoyama has given him the chance to payback Koizumi by taking charge of the process of postal privatization which was started by economic czar Takenaka and modifying it to his own specifications. It seemed to me at the time that Koizumi was making a mistake with postal privatization because the large private banks had already wrecked the banking system in Japan during the nineties while the postal savings bank was doing a good job in conservatively investing the savings of millions of hard working Japanese savers.
